How to Use This Calculator

  1. Set the stake and odds for Bet 1 (e.g., Over 2.5 goals at 1.90)
  2. Set the odds for Bet 2, the opposing bet (e.g., Under 3.5 goals at 1.90)
  3. Read the suggested stake for Bet 2 that levels the outcomes
  4. Read your profit per scenario: only Bet 1 wins, only Bet 2 wins, or both win (the middle)

Formula

Bet 2 Stake = (Bet 1 Stake × Bet 1 Odds) / Bet 2 Odds

Total Investment = Bet 1 Stake + Bet 2 Stake

Profit if Bet 1 Wins = (Bet 1 Stake × Bet 1 Odds) - Total Investment

Profit if Bet 2 Wins = (Bet 2 Stake × Bet 2 Odds) - Total Investment

Profit if Both Win = (Bet 1 Stake × Bet 1 Odds) + (Bet 2 Stake × Bet 2 Odds) - Total Investment

Frequently Asked Questions

Define a middle bet.

A middle is two opposing bets on one event with a band of results where both win. Example: Over 2.5 goals at one book and Under 3.5 at another, exactly 3 goals scored, and both bets win.

How does the middle calculator operate?

It sizes the second bet so you break even (or lose little) when only one bet wins, while netting a large profit if the middle lands and both bets win at once.

Is middling just hedging?

Close, but not the same. Hedging locks in profit on any result. Middling targets break-even or a small loss on most results, with a shot at a big profit when the result lands in the ‘middle’ band where both bets win.

Which markets suit middle bets?

Spread/handicap and totals (over/under) are the usual ones. Watch for line moves that let you grab opposing sides at overlapping numbers, like Over 2.5 and Under 3.5, or Team -3 and Team +4.
