Profit Boost

A promo that adds a percentage to a winning bet's profit (e.g. +50%), unlike an odds boost which raises the odds themselves.

A profit boost is a sportsbook promo that bumps the profit portion of a winning bet by a set percentage. Win a wager with a 50% profit boost and the net profit (not the total payout with stake) gets multiplied by 1.5. That’s the key split from an odds boost, which raises the odds themselves and hits the total payout differently. Profit boosts usually land as tokens in your account and must be applied to a qualifying bet before you place it. They’re a common promo that hands bettors a real bump in return on a winning pick.

The mechanics are simple but often misread. The boost hits profit only, not the total return. Place $100 at +200 and you’d normally win $200 profit. With a 50% profit boost, that becomes $300 (the original $200 plus another $100, which is 50% of $200). Total return is $400, your $100 stake plus $300 boosted profit. Profit boosts usually carry a max extra-profit cap, so if the calculated boost runs past it, the extra payout is held to the cap in the terms.

Example

A book hands out a 100% profit boost token capped at $250 extra profit. A bettor applies it to a $50 wager on an NBA moneyline at +300. If it wins, normal profit is $150 (the $50 stake times the +300 factor). With the 100% boost, the boosted profit is $150 plus another $150 (100% of $150), for $300 profit. Since $150 sits under the $250 cap, the full boost lands. Total payout is $350 ($50 stake plus $300 profit). Had the bettor used a longer-odds pick where the boost would have added $400, the extra would be capped at $250.

Key Points

  • Profit boost is not the same as an odds boost: An odds boost changes the displayed odds. A profit boost leaves the base odds alone and tacks a percentage onto profit after settlement. The difference matters when you calc expected returns.
  • Maximum additional profit caps are standard: Almost every profit boost caps how much extra profit it can produce. Before applying the token, check the cap and pick a bet where the expected extra profit falls inside the limit to capture the full value.
  • Optimal strategy favors plus-money odds: Since the boost hits profit, using it on a higher-profit wager (plus-money or longer odds) yields a bigger absolute bonus than a heavy favorite where profit is small against the stake.
  • Tokens usually expire: Profit boost tokens are time-limited and must be used before they expire. Unused tokens are forfeited, so plan to apply them to a qualifying bet inside the window.
  • Read the eligible market restrictions: Some profit boosts work on any market, others are locked to certain sports, bet types, or minimum odds. Applying the token to an ineligible bet may void the boost with no warning.
